Debark University Participates in EU-Funded 3is Workshops on Community Engagement and Regional Integration in Higher Education
Debark University participated in two high-impact workshops organized under the European Union-funded 3is Project. Held at Turkana University and Garissa University in Kenya from May 20 to 29, 2025, the workshops brought together African and European institutions and stakeholders to explore innovative strategies for community engagement, academic mobility, and cross-border collaboration in higher education.

Discussions focused on integrating meaningful community engagement through empowering local communities, incorporating indigenous knowledge, and establishing inclusive institutional frameworks. The workshops also addressed ways to support flexible skill development, promote micro-credentials, enhance academic mobility, and recognize diverse cross-border learning pathways.
Representing Debark University at both workshops, Mr. Mulugeta Damte shared insights into the university’s community-centered programs and its vision for regional academic cooperation.

Through Mr. Mulugeta’s active participation in the 3is Project, Debark University reaffirmed its commitment to institutional development, innovation, and inclusivity. In Ethiopia and beyond, the university continues to play a vital role in shaping a more responsive, integrated, and sustainable higher education landscape.
