
Debark University Launches the Ras Dejen Journal of Science (RDJS)
On June 14, 2025, Debark University successfully held a hybrid launch workshop for the Ras Dejen Journal of Science (RDJS), with the participation of university management , academic staff, and invited experts. The workshop aimed to introduce the journal, review its editorial policies, and define strategic directions for its growth and long-term sustainability.
The event included both in-person and virtual sessions. Dr. Abebe Tewachew, Editor-in-Chief of RDJS, opened the in-person program with an overview of the journal’s background and vision. Dr. Gebeyehu Yibeltal, Associate Editor, presented the editorial policies and submission guidelines, while Mr. Birhanu Alemneh, from the journal’s ICT team, showcased the newly developed RDJS website, highlighting its main features and user interface.
The virtual presentations added valuable international perspectives. PhD Candidate Gali Alrajafi—a lecturer, journal manager, and researcher at Universitas Muhammadiyah Lampung, Indonesia—shared experiences on managing a new journal and attracting quality submissions. Dr. Dawit Dibekulu from Bahir Dar University provided strategic advice and insights to support the growth of RDJS.
Participants engaged actively throughout the workshop, asking relevant questions and contributing to meaningful discussions.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Gashaw Gismu, Vice President for Research, Technology Transfer, and Community Service, expressed appreciation to all presenters and contributors. He emphasized the value of the workshop’s insights and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to supporting RDJS as a key platform for scientific advancement and knowledge sharing.
