
Debark University Holds External Curriculum Review and Validation Workshop
The College of Natural and Computational Sciences at Debark University successfully conducted an External Curriculum Review and Validation Workshop on June 17, 2025. The event brought together staff members and invited key stakeholders.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Gashaw Gismu, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Research, Technology Transfer, and Community Service, stated that the proposed undergraduate programs in Software Engineering and Geology are aligned with both national and local development priorities. He noted that the programs had already undergone internal review and validation in a previous workshop. Dr. Gashaw also expressed confidence that this workshop would further enrich the curricula by incorporating national and international perspectives.
The workshop featured presentations of needs assessment studies prepared by subject-specific committees. External reviewers, who participated virtually, provided constructive feedback following the presentations.
Dr. Mekonnen Wagaw from Bahir Dar University and Mr. Lake Fereaw from the University of Gondar reviewed and provided feedback on the proposed BSc program in Software Engineering. Dr. Ephirem Getahun from Arba Minch University reviewed and offered feedback on the proposed BSc program in Geology.
The insightful contributions of the external reviewers and the productive discussions during the workshop are expected to significantly enhance the relevance, quality, and practical applicability of the proposed programs.
