
Debark University forge Partnership with ORDA Ethiopia

Debark University (DKU) has taken a significant step toward enhancing research and development by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ORDA Ethiopia. This collaboration underscores both institutions’ commitment to leverage their strengths, expertise, and resources for impactful outcomes.
The signing ceremony took place on July 18, 2024 with the presence of Dr. Asmamaw Zegeye, D/President of DKU. The event was attended by an ORDA Ethiopia representative, Directors, Deans, and a Coordinator of the University. ORDA Ethiopia, which has been engaged in humanitarian aid and development activities for the past 40 years, has served 7 million beneficiaries in development and 10 million beneficiaries in emergency situations.
The MOU outlines several areas of cooperation, including joint research projects, capacity building, facility utilization, and information sharing. Through this partnership, ORDA Ethiopia and DKU aim to modernize systems and practices, create platforms for teaching and research, and develop evidence-based solutions . Focus areas include environmental protection, renewable energy, water resource development, food security, and disaster risk management. By combining their knowledge and resources, ORDA Ethiopia and DKU aim to achieve sustainable development and enhance the well-being of communities in the North Gondar zone.
